With self-drive hire, you operate the truck. Check the vehicle's authorised mass and licence requirements for the country: heavier rigid trucks generally involve category C and combinations category CE rather than a passenger-car licence.

The operational work also becomes part of the hire arrangement.

A driver-included hire provides a truck and crew for a period under the hire terms. A carriage booking sets out collection of your car and delivery to the agreed recipient.

Read the terms defining who loads, secures and accepts responsibility for the car. These tasks and insurance cannot be established by the service name alone.

Comparing the complete price

Hire is commonly charged by hour, shift or distance, sometimes with a minimum period. Add dispatch, fuel where excluded, tolls and return travel; waiting and traffic can affect time-based charges.

A dedicated carrier for your vehicle

If the aim is a truck that collects your car without waiting for others and delivers to your address, discuss a dedicated carriage booking. It includes the agreed driver and handling rather than requiring you to organise truck operation.

Single-car enclosed vans use a hydraulic lift or opening side. An entire two–three-car enclosed carrier can also be reserved for your group. Vehicles use soft wheel straps, GPS tracking and collection and delivery photographs.

For a fixed deadline, discuss express dispatch within 24–48 hours once confirmed, a planner and an arrival date in the contract.

When hire can suit an operator

Hire can suit a business repeatedly moving many cars between its own sites with qualified drivers and experienced loading personnel. The hired truck works as part of its operating fleet.

It can also suit short work on one site rather than an intercity delivery.

For a one-off valuable-car journey, consider the truck time, loading equipment, return and vehicle responsibility when comparing the arrangements.
